LIS-Water is very pleased to welcome Emily Deschaine, who joins the team in the areas of public policy, regulation and management of water services, being assigned, as a Constituency Engagement Specialist, to the strategic partnership of LIS -Water with Sanitation and Water for All to support mobilization activities and work with governments and other non-governmental partners.
Emily is a bilingual professional with experience in brokering and managing partnerships, supporting external relations and oriented towards dialogue with stakeholders, with 14 years of experience in international organizations. Most of her international career has been developed in the health, gender, water, sanitation and hygiene and human rights sectors, with particular experience in leading public-private partnerships around shared value approaches with multinational companies.
In the water, sanitation and hygiene sector, she was director of partnerships at the United Nations Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council, and within this institution she also worked as a UNECE consultant on sustainable mobility and gender programmes. It has worked closely with a wide range of partners in Western Europe, North America, South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
Before joining the UN, she was a business development consultant, as well as an adviser to a representative of the French government and an international business school. Emily Deschaine is also a communication facilitator and coach for CEOs, business leaders, researchers, artists, activists and diplomats from four continents, and since 2013 she has been a keynote speaker at TEDxLausanne.

The vision of Associação LIS-Water – Lisbon International Center for Water is to contribute to a better world through better water governance. It thus promotes more effective, efficient and resilient water supply and wastewater and rainwater management services, within the framework of sustainable development objectives.
These water services are essential for the well-being of citizens and for economic activities, with a clear impact on improving public health, environmental sustainability and mitigating risks, namely arising from climate change.. They generate benefits in terms of job creation, economic growth, increased social stability and reduced conflicts, contributing to a more developed, peaceful, equitable and healthy society.
LIS-Water’s mission is thus to reinforce public policies, regulation and management of water services for the benefit of society, integrating the best knowledge in management, economics, engineering, law, social sciences, communication and other relevant areas.
Together with its partners, the association intends to make available and produce the best and most up-to-date knowledge at an international level and to transfer it continuously to decision-makers, water professionals, industry and society.
In this way, we will make our contribution towards achieving the great goals of humanity regarding better water governance, for a better world.
