An extensive training program for water service regulators will begin in February 2022, as part of the two-and-a-half-year project to improve public policies and regulation of water supply and sanitation services in Latin America and the Caribbean (RegWAS LAC). It brings together governments, regulators and authorities with regulatory and supervisory functions and international organizations. It is the result of a strategic collaboration between LIS-Water, the Inter-American Development Bank and ADERASA.
The training program now underway has 200 participants from 40 regulators and 19 countries. It consists of 16 modules, totaling 80 hours, and will run until November 2022.
Each module consists of two types of sessions and a discussion forum. The presentation session covers the fundamental concepts on the subject and includes case studies. It lasts approximately 3 hours and is pre-recorded and made available to participants via video. The debate session, with discussion and clarification of doubts, is attended by trainers, experts and participants, lasts approximately 2 hours and is held live online. The online discussion forum allows for a wide-ranging debate on the topic and an exchange of experiences between participants, and is open from the start of the module until the end of the program.
