On the World Water Day, LIS-Water will be a keynote speaker at an event organised by Operation Water

To celebrate the World Water Day, Operation Water and the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) will organise a seminar session entitled “The water-food-energy nexus: focal points in the context of climate change”, with special emphasis on debating critical challenges and opportunities in the water sector in developing countries.

The event will take place on March 22nd, between 2pm and 6pm, in the Events Room of the ISA main building.

LIS-Water will be a keynote speaker at this event, represented by its Strategic Advisor, Jaime Melo Baptista, where he will address “The evolution of water services in the world”, contributing with several examples, both of challenges and solutions from a regulatory point of view and defining development policies.

There are countless interconnections between water, food and energy systems and this session aims to highlight innovative strategies and sustainable practices that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on achieving SDG 6 – Clean water and Sanitation for all. The discussion will navigate the complexity of ensuring water security, increasing agricultural productivity and promoting energy efficiency in the face of the growing impacts of climate change, while ensuring equitable and sustainable access to water.

Bringing together a diverse panel of esteemed experts, including regulators, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) experts, economists, engineers, social scientists and consultants, this session promises to explore ideas on how to leverage innovative financing models, develop resilient infrastructure and improve frameworks policymakers to support sustainable water sector development in vulnerable communities.

Operation Water is an association that focuses its activities mainly in Mozambique. The association’s objective is to attract private financing for the water sector in developing countries, promoting projects in a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
