At the invitation of the MAAC and the CPLP, LIS-Water organized a debate with the General Directors of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries on the 4th of April, at the premises of LNEC, for joint reflection on opportunities for cooperation in public policies, regulation and management of water services and water resources.

The CPLP is an international organization formed by Portuguese-speaking countries, whose objective is to deepen the mutual friendship and cooperation between its members. During the event, LIS-Water had the opportunity to present the ongoing program for the improvement of public policies and the regulation of water and sanitation services in Latin America and the Caribbean (RegWAS LAC). LIS-Water also presented the advanced program for the management of water services ProAguas, already carried out in Portugal, Cape Verde and the Azores, with a testimony from ARME, the Multisectoral Regulation Agency for the Economy of Cape Verde. Portugal’s strategic plan for the water supply sector and waste and rainwater management 2021-2030 (PENSAARP 2030), currently under public consultation, was also discussed. Reference was also made to the collaboration between LIS-Water and Sanitation and Water for All.

In addition to presenting the activities of LIS-Water, LNEC described its activity on water resources and water services and the ADP Group reported its activity in Portuguese-speaking countries.
