At the invitation of MAAC and CPLP, LIS-Water organized a debate on April 4th with the Directors-General of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, at the LNEC facilities, for joint reflection on opportunities for cooperation in public policies, regulation and management of water services and water resources.
The CPLP is an international organization formed by Portuguese-speaking countries, whose objective is to deepen mutual friendship and cooperation among its members. Representatives from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor were present.
During the event, LIS-Water had the opportunity to present the ongoing program for improving public policies and the regulation of water and sanitation services in Latin America and the Caribbean (RegWAS LAC). LIS-Water also presented the advanced water services management program ProAguas, already carried out in Portugal, Cape Verde and the Azores, and there was testimony from ARME, the Multisectoral Regulatory Agency for the Economy of Cape Verde. Portugal’s strategic plan for the water supply and wastewater and stormwater management sector 2021-2030 (PENSAARP 2030), currently under public consultation, was also discussed. LIS-Water’s collaboration with Sanitation and Water for All was also mentioned.
In addition to the presentation of LIS-Water activities, LNEC described its activity on water resources and water services and the ADP Group reported on its activity in Portuguese-speaking countries.
The event ended with a cocktail and tasting of Portuguese wines.

Together with its partners, the association intends to make available and produce the best and most up-to-date knowledge at an international level and to transfer it continuously to decision-makers, water professionals, industry and society.
In this way, we will make our contribution towards achieving the great goals of humanity regarding better water governance, for a better world.
