We were born 1 year ago today, 1 year of challenges, 1 year of moving from paper to practice, 1 year of sleeves rolled up, 1 year moved by a dream, by a purpose that makes us smile every day.
This year, a lot of water flowed, we consolidated ProAguas, an advanced training program on service management, sharing knowledge and experiences from north to south of Portugal. We launched RegWAS LAC, a program that is very dear to us, to improve public policy and regulation of water services in Latin America and the Caribbean, mobilizing governments, regulators and international organizations. We carried out a training course in public policies and regulation for the staff of the World Bank. We support the Government of Portugal in the development of the sector’s new strategy for 2030, PENSAARP 2030, in a collaborative process involving dozens of partners and hundreds of contributions. We started projects to support the industry and to support the strategic reflection of fund managers. We gave voice on a local radio, helping to bring water services closer to citizens.
We started a mobility program, welcoming employees from our partners. We organize and participate in dozens of national and international events. Little by little we are still building the foundations of our house, organizing the structure and internal processes and growing our team. Today we are 1 year old and our commitment is renewed with each passing day. A thank you to all who accompany us on this journey. We are LIS-Water. And together we can contribute to better water governance for a better world.
Today we celebrate this date with the relaunch of our brand.

The vision of Associação LIS-Water – Lisbon International Center for Water is to contribute to a better world through better water governance. It thus promotes more effective, efficient and resilient water supply and wastewater and rainwater management services, within the framework of sustainable development objectives.
These water services are essential for the well-being of citizens and for economic activities, with a clear impact on improving public health, environmental sustainability and mitigating risks, namely arising from climate change.. They generate benefits in terms of job creation, economic growth, increased social stability and reduced conflicts, contributing to a more developed, peaceful, equitable and healthy society.
LIS-Water’s mission is thus to reinforce public policies, regulation and management of water services for the benefit of society, integrating the best knowledge in management, economics, engineering, law, social sciences, communication and other relevant areas.
Together with its partners, the association intends to make available and produce the best and most up-to-date knowledge at an international level and to transfer it continuously to decision-makers, water professionals, industry and society.
In this way, we will make our contribution towards achieving the great goals of humanity regarding better water governance, for a better world.
