The 2nd edition of the ProAguas Indústria programme has ended

Between October 24th and 27th, LIS-Water held the second edition of ProAguas Indústria 2023-2025, within the framework of the project “AgIR – Action Plan for the Management of Waste Industrial Waters in the Greater Lisbon and West Region”, an initiative promoted by Águas do Tejo Atlântico and financed by the Environmental Fund, targeting economic agents in the Greater Lisbon and West Region.

It was a training action aimed at technically training top managers and technicians with responsibilities in the management of industrial effluents, to implement environmentally sustainable and more circular practices, minimizing and eliminating undue industrial inflows.

In this second edition, 31 trainees and 11 speakers participated, representing 22 entities, with 16 modules spread over 4 days, with a total of 24 hours of training, which covered the following themes:

  • Definition of wastewater management services
  • Legal and regulatory framework
  • Reuse of water in industry
  • Relationship of intervening entities
  • Own industrial wastewater management solutions
  • Improving the environmental performance of industries
  • Importance and management options for industrial wastewater
  • Solutions for connecting public drainage systems
  • Monitoring by the management entity when falling or rising
  • Technological instruments to support monitoring
  • Study cases

In 2024, ProAguas Indústria returns with 4 more editions, continuing LIS-Water’s commitment to contributing to a future where sustainability and adequate management of industrial wastewater are a priority.

The vision of Associação LIS-Water – Lisbon International Center for Water is to contribute to a better world through better water governance. It thus promotes more effective, efficient and resilient water supply and wastewater and rainwater management services, within the framework of sustainable development objectives.

These water services are essential for the well-being of citizens and for economic activities, with a clear impact on improving public health, environmental sustainability and mitigating risks, namely arising from climate change.. They generate benefits in terms of job creation, economic growth, increased social stability and reduced conflicts, contributing to a more developed, peaceful, equitable and healthy society.

LIS-Water’s mission is thus to reinforce public policies, regulation and management of water services for the benefit of society, integrating the best knowledge in management, economics, engineering, law, social sciences, communication and other relevant areas.

Together with its partners, the association intends to make available and produce the best and most up-to-date knowledge at an international level and to transfer it continuously to decision-makers, water professionals, industry and society.

In this way, we will make our contribution towards achieving the great goals of humanity regarding better water governance, for a better world.
