3rd Meeting of the LIS-Water Strategic Council

On January 18, 2023, LIS-Water held the 3rd meeting of its Strategic Council, which aimed to reflect on the association’s activity in 2022 and the strategy for 2023, as well as to prepare an annual assessment report provided for by the statute.

LIS-Water’s Strategic Council is made up of ten national and foreign personalities of recognized merit.

This meeting was attended by Catarina de Albuquerque, CEO of Sanitation and Water for All, Enrique Cabrera, Senior Vice President of the International Water Association, Helena Alegre, Director of the Department of Hydraulics and Environment at the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, João Feliciano, CEO of the company AGS Administração e Gestão de Sistemas de Salubridade, by António Jorge Monteiro, Associate Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, by Manuel Alvarinho, Trustee of WaterAid UK, by Vera Eiró, President of the Regulatory Entity of Water and Waste Services , and Hugo Pacheco, from Faial City Council. The Board of Directors of LIS-Water also participated, represented by its Chairman, Jaime Melo Baptista, Member Eduardo Marques, representing the Association of Portuguese Companies for the Environment Sector, and Member José Saldanha Matos, representing the Partnership Portuguese for Water.

After a brief visit to the organization, functioning and competences of the Strategic Council and a description of the current LIS-Water team, which was recently reinforced, the strategy was presented in greater detail and the ongoing projects of LIS-Water were evaluated. , followed by an in-depth and fruitful joint reflection on the strategy for the coming year.

The vision of Associação LIS-Water – Lisbon International Center for Water is to contribute to a better world through better water governance. It thus promotes more effective, efficient and resilient water supply and wastewater and rainwater management services, within the framework of sustainable development objectives.

Together with its partners, the association intends to make available and produce the best and most up-to-date knowledge at an international level and to transfer it continuously to decision-makers, water professionals, industry and society.

In this way, we will make our contribution towards achieving the great goals of humanity regarding better water governance, for a better world.

Grupo Águas de Portugal (AdP)

The AdP Group is responsible for the integrated management of the urban water cycle, providing services to Municipalities, which are simultaneously shareholders of the companies managing multi-municipal systems, and directly serving the population through municipal water supply and sanitation systems.
