Where we are

LIS-Water is located in the heart of Lisbon, capital of Portugal. Its facilities are part of the Campus of the National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC), founding member of LIS-Water, with a privileged location, 5 minutes from the airport, served by various means of public transport and offering adequate parking.

The Campus is a large space of 22 hectares, with more than 70 years of history, made up of buildings of great architectural interest, designed by some of the most important Portuguese architects, such as Pardal Monteiro, Januário Godinho and João Andersen, among others. The gardens include some rare and exotic species of trees and identified plants. In December 2012, it was classified as a Monument of Public Interest.

It includes a special environment of people, capabilities, location, history and values that make it a special place to reflect, learn about and find solutions to water problems.

The Water Campus

LIS-Water leverages synergies with various organizations in the water sector that are also located on the LNEC Campus and that integrate various actors (specialists, researchers, businessmen, entrepreneurs, consultants, technicians, etc.).

Experimental installations

There are also accredited experimental installations, around 30 laboratories, highlighting the metrological hydraulic unit, the water quality and treatment unit, the experimental installation of river hydraulics, the experimental installation of marine hydraulics, the installation of seismic tests, the installations for the characterization and evaluation of the performance of materials, construction systems and behavior of works, namely in seismic terms, and mechanics and electronics workshops.
