What we do
Areas of activity
As part of its strategy, LIS-Water implements an integrated approach to water governance that involves challenging knowledge and helping to put it into practice, through the involvement of policy makers, water professionals, industry, startups and society in general.
LIS-Water’s approach thus involves developing five areas of activity:
Knowledge and innovation
Collection and processing of the best scientific knowledge and practical application, and production of new knowledge and innovation in public policies, regulation and management of water services and associated water resources.
Assessment, brainstorm and strategic advice
Strategic reflection and advice for water policy makers and decision makers and dialog with policy makers.
Training and capacity building
Training actions for water decision-makers and professionals, training initiatives for mobility organizations and actions, and integration of professionals in the water sector.
Business and startup development
Actions to support the industry and startups, including innovation challenge initiatives, to attract talents and generate new ideas, incubation and acceleration programs for startups and industry-oriented actions.
Communication, awareness and involvement of the community
Communication and awareness actions on water issues for society in general and support for social participation.
We try to link the different areas of knowledge
LIS-Water focuses its strategy on improving the interface areas of knowledge, establishing links between the various areas of activity that are fundamental to good governance, such as strategy, management, engineering, economics, law, technology and sociology. It addresses governance both at the macro level (national level) and at the micro level (local level), establishing a strong link between the two levels. It also acts as a linking platform between the different actors in the sector, facilitating communication and synergies between all.
We drive the link between knowledge and practice
The four complementary areas of action are essential tools to boost co-production and knowledge transfer, which is why LIS-Water dedicates special attention to these connections. With activities dedicated to each of these four areas, we pay special attention to listening, analyzing and understanding the behavior of actors, as well as identifying difficulties and opportunities to be explored in knowledge and innovation projects.
